I grew up listening to the Sweet. Great live band too. Best clothes for Top of the Pops.

Many years ago in the late 80's i used to frequent the Hippodrome in London, trying to get in with the in crowd, the music whore that i was then (still am come to think of it !) anywhooooo one particular night, sat upstairs with a coupla buddies in said venue, anyway, we were scoping out Iron maiden members drinking champagne whilst enjoying lotsa famale company, when Brian Connolly (the Sweet..) walks past us absolutely fooking legless, "Hey man its .. Brian from the sweet i said to my Guitarist buddy Wil, and as i pointed Brian went arse over tit, over two tables, fooking champers went everywhere as he hit the deck and was out cold, man i laughed so much i think i remeber nearly shitting myself, it was that funny ! Better still and later that night, as id made my way downstairs, and was on the phone to my Girlfreind describing what i'd just seen, a gravely voice from behind said barked .. "For Fucks sake are you going to be on that Furking phone all night.." er .. i wont be long .. er Lemmy (Motorhead..)

Nice story. The Hippodrome on Wednesday nights were good fun. Did you go to the Royal George and Busby's too?

I once ran onto the dance floor at the Mayfair in Newcastle only to find out that someone had spilt a load of beer on the floor. I skidded halfway across the floor before loosing my balance and going A over T landing flat on my back.

Got a round of aplause for my trouble!

AND I was stone cold sober!

cowboy boots + beer = no grip

    EXACTLY!

One of my mates did the exact same thing in Busby's. Good job it was earlyish, and the place was pretty empty. The temptation to air-guitar to Still Of The Night was too much for him. He still tried to look cool as if he meant to be on his knees though, hahaha

Same thing here....cowboy boots and rocked out and ready to go....It started to pour bigtime...with hail as well....needless to say, as I ran into the venue...as soon as my boots left concrete and stepped onto tile....Let's just say I became a human bowling ball....hahaha!

Nahh it was (forgive my spellin' here) .. Intrepid Fox then straigh on to Hippo .. and yeah twas on a Wednesday, I remember leaving at around 2 am one morning with a car full of mates, and fell asleep whilst driving home in the fast lane, i can remeber being rudely awaken'd by my car hitting the central barrier, as luck would have it i managed to stay in control of mi motor, and pull it over to the side to empty my undies, suffice to say, the offside of my car was a little worse for wear, but hey we all survived, and now i look back on this incident, im quite chuffed we got away with just damage to the car, as i suppose it could have been a lot, lot worse !!
